Age of Revolution
European Revolutions
With the success of the American revolution
Europe's many downtrodden classes pressed for greater rights and
freedoms. The nobility of Europe resisted change and provoked a
series of bloody revolutions in France and Germany. These
revolutions changed the face of Europe and led to changes that
eventually made the world more democratic.
French The French
Revolution (1789–1799) was a period of
radical social and political upheaval in
French and
European history. The
absolute monarchy that had ruled France for
centuries collapsed in three years.
