Founding
The Jomon Period (13000 BC to 300 BC),
saw the start of Japan's history The people were gathers, fishermen
and hunters. The Yayoi Period (300 BC to 300 AD), introduced iron,
agriculture and social classes with a queen called Himiko (or Pimiku).
The Kofun Period (300-538) established a central government in
Yamato with an emperor as its head of state. Source:
