Definition: "A war is a conflict between two or
more groups that involve large numbers of
individuals. Wars may be prosecuted
simultaneously in one or more
theatres of war.
Within each theatre, there may be one or more
consecutive
military campaigns.
Individual actions of war within a specific
campaign are traditionally called
battles,
although this terminology is not always applied
to contentions in modernity involving aircraft,
missiles or bombs alone in the absence of ground
troops or naval forces."

The
U.S. Department of Defense defines psychological warfare
(PSYWAR) as: "The planned use of
propaganda and other
psychological actions having the primary purpose of
influencing the opinions, emotions, attitudes, and behavior
of hostile foreign groups in such a way as to support the
achievement of national objectives."[1]
Psychological Warfare is also known as
infowars. This type of warfare is often used in modern
situations, such as the dropping of leaflets and propaganda
campaigns. Psychological warfare could be considered a type
of
unconventional warfare. This is because it attempts to
influence the mind of the
enemy rather than destroy its military. The press is one
of the most commonly used weapons for spreading propaganda.
