half-century-Social Security, civil rights, Medicare, aid to
education, one after another-came with the support and leadership of
American Labor". Jimmy Carter |

Education
Associations and Unions |
 |
Whether they are called a Union, Federation,
Organization, Association, Society, Council, or
Congress, their main purpose is to support you as a
professional. Often they supply advice, materials,
insurance, protection and support as you perform you
daily task. No teacher should ever think about working
in a classroom without some form of legal and
professional support.
The principle teacher organizations are the
American Federation of Teachers
which is affiliated with the AFL-CIO and the
National Education Association and
The Association of American Educators
neither of which is affiliated with organized labor.
If you are a substitute you can join any of the
above organizations or the
National Substitute Teachers Alliance. The
administrators are represented by the
American Association of School
Administrators and the
National Association of Secondary School
Principals.
