Blog Peace
Peace: A state
in which a society is not involved in military
actions either against their neighbors or within its
borders. According to the
Peace Alliance 1.6 million deaths occur each
year by violence and for every dollar spent on peace
the nations of the earth spend $1,885 on their
military.
Peace is one of the most
illusive features in human history.
Unfortunately it fallows major and
minor wars (both civil and between
nations) and is usually short lived.
People try to live with one another,
expand trade, communicate with one
another and make amends for the
evils inflicted on one another.
However the powers that wins usually
inflict punishment on the previous
adversary, with fines, restrictions,
laws, trials and other forms of
revenge. This causes resentment
anger and demands for justice and
retribution. The best example can be
seen in the end of World War I (War
to End All Wars). The victorious
allies inflicted harsh and
unnecessary punishments on Germany
and its allies, which led to the
rise of Hitler and the Nazis. We
must strive to understand, accept,
and recognize our differences.
Otherwise we will become extent with
the weapons now in existence.
"Peace cannot be kept by
force; it can only be achieved by
understanding." — Albert Einstein
