"Judgment comes
from experience, and experience comes from bad judgment". Simon Bolivar
Latin American History
"Latin America (Spanish:
América Latina or Latinoamérica;
Portuguese:
América Latina;
French:
Amérique latine) is the
region
of the
Americas
where
Romance languages
(i.e., those derived from
Latin),
particularly Spanish, Portuguese and French, are
primarily spoken.
It was once home to three great
civilizations, the Mayans, Aztecs and Inca. They had very rich
cultures with large cities, vibrant economies, and deep seated
religions. After 1492 they became the target of Spanish
exploitation and soon were subjugated by Cortez and Pizarro.
Their ancestors still exist today but a great deal of their
history and culture was lost. Latin America today strives to
improve the life of its people and to find its place in the
family of nations."
