With the advent of computers, the internet and
artificial intelligence, a new issue has come to play,
the building of the national data centers. Granted they are
important for AI, but there are many issues, such
as where to put them, what jobs will they provide, how much
money will they generate, who will pay for them, what will
they do to our to
water and electrical usage, who will pay for the power, what
will be the effects on local communities
and the environment, what will be the energy and power constraints,
what will be the scale of activity, what will be the amount
of rural, urban and suburban expansion, what will be the
effects on national security vs. local rules and the effects
on local national and local taxes. We as citizens must be
aware of these issues and understand how building these
structures will effect our ways of living, taxes, our pocket
books and the environment. Some computer experts have stated
they feel that all new center are not needed and they will
collect vast amounts of information about people, that
business can buy and sell to enrich themselves. Studies must be
through, common open and
balanced. The governments must listen to the voters, and
listen less to corporate and influencers with out non
disclosure agreements. |
