African Proverb

African History

Africa is the cradle of human development. It is rich in culture and resources. Early Africa was dominated by a tribal system up until the arrival of the Europeans, and they often fought with each other. Some of the great early civilizations such as the Egyptians and the Zimbabwe flourished in Africa thousands of years ago. The imperialism of the Europeans changed the traditions and tribal connections and as a result the continent has gone through some very difficult times. Timelines

Culture
The foundations for African culture is the family and the tribe. Art, architecture, music and religion are intertwined in their variety  of traditions. During colonial times missionaries, economic, military and political leaders tried to undermine African traditions. A cultural revival occurred with the wave of independence and nationalism.
